On Tuesday the 4th of August 2020, we had Mr.Vikram Mehta, executive director of Mpire Weddings, as he talks about his love for destination weddings, about how the future is collaborations, future of virtual events and much more. He joined in for a chat with Espousal partner Shikha Nahata
Tell us about yourself:
For Mr. Vikram, the events life caught him quite early in his life. After he had completed his undergrad, and was transitioning towards his MBA course, he opened up his first events firm. He was only 21 at that time. This went really well, until one day he decided to slow down. “I hit a lot of limelight at quite an early part of my career. Hence, I decided to step back a little bit”. This is when he decided to shift his focus towards other things in life.
That’s when one of his friends suggested him to conduct a wedding in Bangkok, and that happened to be his first wedding of his career. After doing his first wedding he got drawn towards this industry. “This is where I realized that there is a big market to tap in this industry. I concentrated on the destination wedding”. Since then, there has been no stopping for Mr. Vikram. He has since then done various destination weddings around the globe to name a few, he has done weddings in places like the Gulf, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and even the Disney World in the USA.
“People now recognize us as an expert in destination weddings”.
Your opinion about virtual events?
“Even if the world opens up, virtual reality will not go. People will accept the concept of zoom meeting, and it’s a huge step in this environment. People will be more open to this idea in future.”
Your opinion about wedding expos:
Mr. Vikram feels that nothing can get better than a wedding expo. According to him, one gains so much knowledge from other people in a wedding expo. “People have their own stories and struggles to tell you, and it’s important for you to know this”.
He also pointed out that a wedding expo helps bring different and many people under one roof, thus a good chance for a great and insightful interaction for participants. “There are so many different people from various associates to different vendors. This is a good way to understand how the industry works.”
From the point of view of a seller or a vendor, Mr. Vikram feels that there is a huge scope for exposure.
Your opinion about Espousal?
“You can get to interact with everyone from the industry, you can get to learn so many things from different people, without participating and just by sitting at home. It will go really well because a lot of people are anticipating it and are really excited for it.”
